Limpopo Region optimistic of the fiscal year ahead

Limpopo region is one the biggest and pillars of The Mvula Trust’s operations. It is on this premise that the organisation cannot leave planning to chance.

To ensure that The Mvula Trust is geared up for the new financial year, Christopher Chaamano, Regional Director, convened a two-day strategy planning session, which was held at the Ranch Hotel few kilometres from the city of Polokwane.

The organisation started the session by reflecting on the performance of this financial, which is ending in June. According to Chaamano, this approach was significant because “it helps to assess the current situation and understand the challenges that made us to fail in certain areas and accomplish in others. It is not all gloom. We have pockets of excellence to celebrate.”

The region is implementing, among others, water and sanitation projects across the schools in the Province of Limpopo and this responsibility calls for all hands to be on the deck. It is a mammoth task requires proper monitoring and evaluation all the time. You need a motivated team, well-coordinated systems and processes in place. We have gathered here to share the lessons we have learned from our previous projects. In addition, to identify areas that need improvement. There is saying that goes like this: “once bitten, twice shy”. We do not want to repeat our mistakes as a region,” added Chaamano.

It was an interactive session and employees had an opportunity to participate in commissions to thrash out issues pertaining to effective project management and internal support issues.

The activities were not short of inspiration. Simphiwe Mdlalose, one of the founders of Capricorn FM and Power FM radio stations, delivered a passion – awakening talk in the last day the workshop.
