Training a boost for emerging small businessess

The Mvula Trust convened a training session on the 05 June 2018 in East London, Eastern Cape, to empower small businesses with the know- how in terms of business acumen and techniques.

This initiative forms part of The Mvula Trust’s programme that is aimed at uplifting small enterprises and make them competitive in the market.

In his address to welcome representatives of small businesses that attended the session, Mqondiso Makupula, Regional Director for The Mvula Trust in the Eastern Cape, lauded attendees for showing passion and willingness to grow their businesses.“I am encouraged by your presence in this place. Running a business nowadays requires aggressiveness and disruption. Your persistence and efforts will take your businesses beyond expectations”, said Makupula.

Entrepreneurs who came from different parts of the Province attended the training.

Among other topics that were discussed during session was tendering and processes that need to be followed when shortlisting suppliers as well as evaluation criteria in terms of registering on The Mvula Trust’s Infrastructure Framework Agreement Supplier Database

According to Neo Thebe, Supply Chain Management Specialist at The Mvula Trust, small businesses should be supported so that they do not feel isolated by the systems. She also added that uneven grounds of competition must be levelled to avoid monopolising the market.

“We are now optimistic that this training will assist small businesses to improve on how they do business dealings”, said Thebe.

The Mvula Trust will continue to empower small businesses through knowledge sharing across the country.
