Ceo Mbedzi leads delegation on sanitation projects visit
In his commitment to ensure that the quality of projects implemented is impeccable and meet the basic norms and standards, The Mvula Trust’s Chief Executive Officer, Silas Mbedzi, embarked on a trip to some schools in the Malamulele Circuit Office, Vhembe District.
The delegation comprised different stakeholders from Limpopo Department of Education, Department of Basic Education, Contractors, Local Councillors, Traditional Leadership as well as School Management Teams. The schools that were visited are Titirheleni Primary School (Dinga Village), Tinyiko Primary School (Mtititi, Lombardy Village), Mdanisi Primary School (Madonsi Village), Tivoneleni Primary School (Nkovani Village) as well as Botsoleni Primary School (Botsoleni Village).These schools are among other beneficiaries of the Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Delivery Initiative (ASIDI) programme, which seeks to fast-track delivery of infrastructure to schools across the country. This initiative is funded and spearheaded by the Department of Basic Education (DBE). Because of its unparalleled experience and high-level competency in project management, which spans over 20 years, The Mvula Trust has been appointed by DBE as one of its implementing agents on the ASIDI programme in the category of water and sanitation services.Some of the fully completed block of toilets at Tinyiko Primary School (Mtititi Village, Lombardy)
Addressing project stakeholders, members of school governing bodies as well as school management teams in all five schools, Mr. Mbedzi could not withhold his excitement seeing the progress made on the projects in a while.“Although I was regularly updated on the progress of these projects, I thought it would be wise to come and lay my eyes on what is happening on construction sites. I am impressed because of not only progress but also the quality of work and commitment,” The blocks of toilets at both Titirheleni and Tinyiko Primary schools are finished, awaiting issuing of certificate of compliance and official handover.The construction at other remaining three schools visited is moving at accelerated pace, envisaging completion end of March 2018.
